       NAIDNI ON LAKE DUNMORE

Located on the quiet, southwest corner of Lake Dunmore Naidni (that’s Indian spelled backwards!) was the name of a girl scout camp that operated here until the early 1950s. Since then the two cabins and main lodge have been rented to vacationers who come to enjoy the swimming, boating, and fishing in Lake Dunmore and hiking in the nearby Green Mountain National Forest. Dunmore is a clean, clear lake and with beautiful views of the these mountains. And it's an ideal place in the Fall to appreciate Vermont's wonderful colors.

The Lake Cabin sits right on the lakeshore beside the grassy beach. It has a new wood burning stove and a new well equipped kitchen. The large screen porch, which fronts the lake, is a comfortable area for dining and hanging out. In cooler weather the “great room” functions as both a living and dining area. The two bedrooms make this a comfortable cabin for four people. DVD player provided.

The Lodge is a rambling two-story building that is loved by groups and families (it sleeps 10), often multigenerational. Surrounded by 6 acres of woods, it features a large eat-in country kitchen with a wood stove, dining room, living room with a stone fireplace, and a wonderful front porch and is just up the hill from the lake. Six bedrooms, most with the original pine paneling, are located on the second floor. There is a bathroom on both the first and second floors. DVD player provided.

Garden cottage, nestled in the woods, is located about 200 yards up the hill from the lake. Garden has a large screened porch, a well equipped kitchen and two bedrooms.

The historic and picturesque towns of Brandon and Middlebury are about 20 minutes from Naidni and have a number of shops and restaurants. Craft and antique shops are abundant in this area and the dairy farms and produce stands provide the makings for delicious meals. We provide a rowboat and canoe for guests’ use. Naidni is ideal for day trips to Stowe, the Robert Frost Trail, Woodstock, Burlington, and the Shelburne Museum.
